Mary Cain gets a victory, a medal and a cookie at the USA Junior Track & Field Championships

Cain, the 18-year-old professional who trains with the Nike Oregon Project, pulled away from age-group triathlete Stephanie Jenks to win the 3,000 meters in 9 minutes, 15.81 before an estimated crowd of 2,500.

The victory earns Cain a berth on the U.S. team for the World Junior Championships, July 22-27 also at Hayward Field.
