Published by Nebraska SID on June 25th, 2016

Members of the Nebraska track and field team are competing at international competitions and the USA Junior Outdoor Championships this weekend.

Nick Percy won the discus title at the British Track & Field Championships with a best throw of 198-3 (60.43). The NCAA national champion and Scottish record holder in the event has thrown more than 60 meters four times but is looking to reach 65 meters to qualify for the Olympics in Rio. Percy will also compete in the hammer throw on Sunday in Birmingham, England.

At the USA Junior Outdoor Championships in Clovis, Calif., Cale Wagner won the decathlon title with 7,532 points to punch his ticket to the IAAF U20 World Championships in Poland in July. Wagner, a Seward native, won five of the 10 decathlon events (100 meters, long jump, high jump, 400 meters and javelin) and set personal bests in eight events.

Jasmine Barge placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles final with a time of 59.09. Nick Coghill was ninth in the shot put, throwing 60-11 1/4 (18.57). He will also compete in the discus Sunday night. Tierney Lindner tied for eighth in the high jump at 5-5 3/4 (1.67).

Lakayla Harris finished third in the 200-meter qualifying in 23.50 to advance to Sunday night's final.
